You cannot go wrong if your night involved Mimi's. Right in the heart of the Marigny and within walking distance of many other bars, Mimi's will make you not want to go to any of the other places. This place is easily one of the best bars in New Orleans. There are two floors: downstairs is a big, long bar, tables located against the wall and windows, a great jukebox and a pool table. For being a big bar Mimi's never seems too spacious. Once you've digested all the goodness of downstairs (and all some items off the tapas menu) head upstairs where it gets a little more swanky. The ceiling gets lower, the walls a little more plush, the bar smaller, and there's a dance floor with a nice nook for the DJ. On Friday nights Alligator Chomp Chomp spins mod dance tunes and on Saturday night DJ Soul Sista draws in a crowd from all across New Orleans. She spins funk and all related genres well into the night. Mimi's on Saturday is the place to be seen. I highly recommend this bar. Lucky for me, it's my neighborhood spot. You can go here during the week for a low-key drink with friends or go out on the weekend and find the crowds. Really, Mimi's is a bar for all nights of the week.
