The Bulldog is a welcome addition to the New Orleans that I usually inhabit. A dark, low-ceilinged bar, only two televisions, and, for the middle of the afternoon on a weekday, pretty bustling. All for good reason though; their food is some of the best bar food I've come across here, while their selection of beer is wide and, as it turns out, very delicious. Get the Chimay Bleu Cheeseburger or the Crawfish Banditos if you want something to complement all the dark beers (oh which there are many; about 10 Beligians, and 25 other Euro beers) or the Lazy Magnolia Pulled Pork; for that one, have the Lazy Magnola Southern Pecan Ale. The best part about The Bulldog, other than their beer and food, is their patio. You can sit out there by the outdoor heaters and take in the activity of Magazine St. It's usually full on the weekends so grab your table early. The Bulldog is a new favorite spot for me; I've been too busy drinking New Orleans' famous cocktails to realize that a great beer garden was hiding in plain sight.
