HOLY grits, it is amazing and i want to live in it. i had the breakfast sandwich on a poppin' fresh everything bagel with goat cheese, ham, and scrambled egg, complete with watermelon slice and french roast. walk, fly, ride, whatever, get inside and eat some fresh pastries. it will change you.

Cake Cafe is a little gem in the Marigny. Every time I have been here for brunch it's packed but the beauty is, you never have to wait too long for a table. It's a spritely place where all different kinds of people from the neighborhood gather. It's got the feel of a deli, with the servers taking your order from behind the big glass window counter, but their food is superior to just about every little brunch spot I've been to. Last week I got the Boudin, Eggs and Grits, a plate full of heaven. They make Southern fare very well and make their desserts even better. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of cupcakes but their red velvet cupcakes may have won me over. They're moist and just the right amount of sweet, and topped with cream cheese frosting. I really can't say enough good things about the Cake Cafe. It's in my neighborhood, the people are friendly, they have great atmosphere, it's inexpensive, and top it all off, their food is great.
