Another Tom Cruise Jack Reacher event has been postponed in the wake of the Newtown, Conn. shootings last week.
The Film Society of Lincoln Center has postponed Monday's screening of Jack Reacher and a conversation with Cruise, the film's action star.
"Out of respect for the families who lost loved ones in Newtown, Connecticut, we are postponing tonight's event," a statement from the film society said. "We extend our love and condolences to you. Our community grieves with yours."
The event was to benefit the society's 50th anniversary fund. No rescheduled date was listed for the event.
Paramount studios, which is releasing the Cruise vehicle, put out a statement at the same time.
"We support Lincoln Center and their decision to postpone their fundraiser this evening," the statement read.
Paramount also postponed the film's star-studded premiere over the weekend following the school tragedy. But the violent action flick is still slated to be released on Dec. 21.
On Wednesday, Cruise will travel to Pittsburgh, where the premiere was meant to be, to screen the film for fans in the city "that so graciously hosted the production of the film," according to the Paramount statement.
"There will be no red carpet during this time of mourning," the statement continued. "The filmmakers and Tom Cruise convey their heartfelt sadness and their deep condolences to the families during this time."
