Cable series win top TCA honors

Showtime's Homeland and FX comedy Louie took two top honors apiece at the Television Critics Association Awards Saturday.
In a ceremony hosted by Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston in Beverly Hills. Homeland won for best new series and individual achievement in drama for star Claire Danes. Louie star/writer/producer/director Louis CK won awards for individual achievement in comedy and best comedy series. AMC's Bad won best drama, repeating its 2010 win. And HBO's Game of Thrones won program of the year.
Other winners included PBS' Downton Abbey for best movie, miniseries or special; Fox's So You Think You Can Dance for best reality show; CBS' 60 Minutes for best news and information program; and ABC Family's Switched at Birth won top youth programming honors.
In special categories, NBC's Cheers was given the Heritage Award for "social and cultural impact" and David Letterman won a lifetime achievement award for his influence in late-night television.
