Famed singer, rapper and actress Lauryn Hill admitted she failed to file federal income tax returns for three years, New Jersey U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said Friday.

Hill, a 37-year-old resident of South Orange, N.J., waived her right to a trial and pleaded guilty in a hearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Shipp to a criminal information that charged her with failing to file tax returns for 2005 through 2007.

She received more than $1.8 million in income during those years, court documents show.

Hill faces up to one year in prison plus fines and court costs at a sentencing hearing scheduled for Nov. 27.
